Experiments & Measurements in Chemistry

Chemistry is a science based on experiments. Chemists follow systematic procedures for carrying out chemical experiments and recording observations. The chemistry laboratory has a host of laboratory apparatus for the purpose of experimentation.

However, if the experiments are to be reproducible, there should be a systematic way of describing the observations of the experiments. This is where a standard system for measurements comes in. Chemistry, like other sciences, uses the SI system of measurement, including agreed-upon convenient prefixes (such as milli-, centi-, kilo- and mega-) for those units which are either too large or too small to appear practical.
